GURUGRAM In view of the lockdown, the urban local bodies department on Friday extended the due date for payments of electricity, water and sewage bills and property tax in the state to April 15.

"We've extended the date to file the property tax dues to April 15 following the decision of the urban local bodies department. Meanwhile, the sealing of properties for non-payment of dues has already stopped due to the lockdown," an MCG official said.

Though the facility of online payment is already available, residents have welcomed the decision since it may not be possible for the elderly to pay bills online.

"This is a good step taken for the convenience of the residents, especially the elderly. Some people don't make payments online. Moreover, there is a lot of uncertainty and extending date of these payments is only going to help residents," said VMK Singh, a resident of Suncity.
