Surat civic body seals 160 properties over tax dues

SURAT: Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) had sealed 160 properties and disconnected water connections of 20 properties in Pandesara, Ganpatnagar, Kshetrapal Nagar, Khatodara areas on Saturday. South Zone (Udhana) officials of the civic body had initiated the actions after property owners failed to pay civic tax dues for the current financial year. According to SMC officials, till now, a total of Rs 191.53 crore property tax had been collected from the zonal office and drive had been intensified to recover dues from tax defaulters.

SMC has urged citizens to pay their due taxes on time to avoid harsh actions from the civic body.
