VISAKHAPATNAM: VMRDA metropolitan commissioner P Koteswara Rao on Monday said the state government had extended layout regularisation scheme’s (LRS) application deadline to April 6.
In a press release, Rao said applications could be made through portal, but only with the help of licensed technical personnel approved by VMRDA.
“LRS is applicable to layouts and plots registered before August 31, 2019 as per government order dated January 8. A copy of registered sale deed/title deed, location plan, detailed layout plan, land conversion certificate, etc. need to be uploaded for layout regularisation. The public can regularise their plots by paying a penalty and the value of 14% open space of the plot.
The local civic body commissioners of Vizianagaram, Yelamanchili and Nellimarla can also regularise illegal layouts by taking prior approval of VMRDA commissioner. I request the public to utilise the opportunity to bring illegal layouts into the planning fold,” Rao said. VMRDA received about 20,400 applications in 2015 under the scheme. The urban development authority regularised about 9,500 layouts/plots and rejected about 6,200 applications. This time VMRDA has received a lukewarm response. This can be attributed to increased land prices and penalties.
